Auditor's Note

This FAQ serves as the technical documentation for the Current Australia benchmark logic. All answers are based on the 2026 regulatory framework.

01

What is the '6.8 STC Multiplier' and why does it matter?

Under the Federal Renewable Energy Target, STC (Small-scale Technology Certificate) incentives taper every year on January 1st. For the 2026 calendar year, the multiplier is officially set at 6.8. Most online calculators use outdated figures; our Benchmark Engine is hard-coded to these 2026 standards to ensure your ROI calculation is mathematically accurate.

02

Why is the 6.8 factor applied instead of the earlier 8.4 factor?

The Federal 'Cheaper Home Batteries' program underwent a scheduled funding adjustment in 2026. As an independent auditor, we utilize the conservative 6.8 factor and the DCCEEW Three-Tier Step-Down logic to ensure your ROI isn't based on 'phantom' savings that no longer exist in the current regulatory window.

03

How does Current Australia make money?

To keep our tools free, we use a transparent manufacturer-direct model. If you choose to explore hardware via our 'Verified Path' (e.g., Bluetti), the manufacturer pays us a commission. You pay the same price as going direct. We are supported by manufacturer marketing budgets, not your pocket.

04

How does Current Australia remain independent?

We refuse 'lead-fees' from solar installation companies. This removes any incentive to steer you toward a specific contractor. Our revenue is derived strictly from manufacturer-direct partnerships, allowing us to maintain strict auditor neutrality.

05

Is this tool affiliated with the 'Cheaper Home Batteries Program' (CHBP)?

Current Australia is a private research initiative. While our logic aligns with DCCEEW and CER 2026 guidelines, we are not a government agency. We act as an 'Independent Auditor' to help you verify installer quotes against official program benefits.

06

Do you sell my data to solar companies?

Absolutely not. Most free calculators are lead-generation traps. Current Australia never sells user data or phone numbers. On this platform, you are a researcher, not a lead.

07

What happens after I get my report?

You receive a Solar Battery Benchmark Audit Report. You can use this to negotiate with local installers or follow our 'Verified Hardware Path'. We only feature hardware (like Bluetti) that is currently on the CEC Approved Product List.
